Sid Komaragiri is the award-winning artist behind KVS Tabla, a brand rooted in the ancient Indian hand drum and fused with the pulse of modern Western music. For over 15 years, he has studied the tabla as an act of joy, dexterity, and spiritual practice, blending intricate rhythmic patterns with contemporary genres. “Together my hands and tablas tell sonic stories I want to take around the world.”
Raised in Maryland, Sid grew up as the son of parents from Hyderabad, India who had immigrated to the U.S. He began learning tabla as a child. By age 10, he was outperforming his instructors and soon began training under tabla master Pandit Samir Chatterjee. The Guru—who remains in Sid’s life today—taught not just technique and structure, but also the deeper math, language, and poetry behind the instrument and Indian classical music.
In 2021, Sid launched “KVS Tabla” (a reversal of his initials), sharing short-form clips that reached millions and led to bookings across weddings, events, and festivals. From restaurant residencies to global performances in over 15 countries, Sid has built a broad and growing audience. Notable highlights include opening for Jay Sean at the 2022 Times Square Diwali celebration, Cartier’s Diwali, three consecutive appearances at New York Fashion Week, and a sold-out headline show at SOB’s NYC, followed by his first US Tour in 2025.
The 26-year-old Sid self-funded a trip to Nepal to create his EDM-tinged “Rasa” short film and honor the use of percussion in the South Asian subcontinent. The short film premiered at Tasveer film festival in Vancouver in 2025.
Sid is now gearing up to release more original music and take his live set worldwide.
